Barn Door Blinds

We have been dreaming of adding these Barn Door Blinds to the modern farmhouse ever since the build was over. The windows in the master bedroom are floor to ceiling windows and were the perfect width apart to have one long barn door track.

We kept the design classic since there was going to be two fairly large blind/doors covering the windows.

Once we got the boards aligned we started the process of putting the tongue- and- groove pieces of southern white pine together.

We cut the 1X8’s to 38 inches and used  trim screws to put them into place.

The next phase was to put wood filler in the holes and sand it down really well.

After the sanding was completed it was time to paint. We decided to go with Sherwin Williams white trim paint. We first stained the wood with weathered gray stain. After the final coat of white paint was applied we sanded lightly to give a distressed look.

The blinds turned out better than we could have imagined.
